The versatility and flexibility of SIPs
Are SIPs flexible?
Many of our customers ask us if Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) score highly when it comes to flexibility and versatility, so we've put together this article in a bid to explain.
First of all, it's worth noting that flexibility can of course be interpreted in different ways and although it's unlikely that anyone is enquiring into their bendy properties, we wanted to clarify which type of flexibility SIPs score highly for. SIPs are made from rigid OSB boards with insulation in the middle, so they're not flexible in the bendy sense of the word. But in the way of being easy to work with and versatile in their end design, SIPs perform well on both fronts.
Are SIPs versatile?
SIPs also score highly when it comes to versatility too. They can be used for walls, roofs and floors, meaning there are far less materials needed for your overall order list. They can also be made to almost any shape or size to accommodate a variation of architectural designs, however it's worth noting that your plans should be perfect when you send them to us, to save you having to make any cuts or adjustments on-site.
The walls can then be clad in a wide range of materials, such as:
Vinyl siding
Wooden cladding siding
Fibre cement
Metal siding
Brick or stone veneer
Stucco
Wood shakes or shingles
Metal panels
Composite panels
Concrete panels
Glass or fibreglass panels
